Newroz is the Kurdish celebration of New Year. It coincides with the Spring Equinox, and is a festival celebrating the beginning of spring. Over the years, Newroz has come to represent new beginnings, as well as an opportunity to support the Kurdish cause. For these reasons, Newroz is considered to be the most important festival in Kurdish culture.
This year, there will be a brazier fire in the South Park in central Oxford to celebrate Newroz Eve.
The event will take place between 5pm and 8pm, entrance from the Cheney Lane in the middle of the park.
All are welcome. Please let us know if you would like to come by emailing info@oka.org.uk
